Youtube housekeeping tips

Hey you youtubers and 888DAGgers,

I have to admit I am very excited about having my own youtube channel now, being able to upload my own clips and share them with family, friends and the rest of the world.

Now here are some handy housekeeping tips for you to get your clips to a wider audience.

First of all you can be as creative as you would like to be. Once you have logged in just click on the Edit Channel to change your Channel Information, Channel Design and to Organize Videos.

You can also edit your clip through the Video Owner Option by clicking Edit Video. Here you can change the Title of your clip, Description and Tags.

Here are few points we would like you to consider.

1. All Clips should have the following Tags

• 888DAG, 888DAG.com and any others you would like to add

2. All Captioned Clips should have the following Tags

• 888DAG, 888DAG.com, Close Caption, Subtitle, Deaf, ESL and any others you would like to add

3. In Description you can add you own description of your Clip. Please add the following to your description if your Clip has been captioned.

• Closed Caption and Subtitle for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community. Reading English for ESL.

There are quite a few groovy functions in youtube such as Insight in Video Owner Option where you can follow the popularity of your Clips eg in which country your clip was watched the most.

Last but not least it would be great if you could please Subscribe or become Friends with the other 888DAGgers (of course not exclusively) - check out youtube channel 888eyeoftheleopard for a listing.

Hello 888Family!! Didn't I say "watch this space??" Yep, you've got it right - here's your YouTube Training. If you are still not sure how to create your own YouTube Channel, then this is for you!! Please watch the below clips.

When you have created your own Channel, please do not wait for AI-MEDIA to upload your videos. If you wish to share more videos, please feel free to add more clips onto your own Channel and you do not have to wait for them to be captioned. You can talk about your video, get people excited!! At the same time, we will also aim to upload your chosen clips when it is captioned and ready to go. Be creative! Have fun! It's your own Channel. Good luck DAGgers'! Love your work...

Your Next Favourite 8 Clips for October ‘08

Dear DAGgers’,

We will start captioning your next favourite 8 clips but we need your help by letting us know your next 8 selection. Please select your favourite ones from your current batch of videos at AI-MEDIA. Any clips uploaded from today onwards can be used for November. Please enter your favourite 8 clips in comment section ASAP, cut off date is: Tuesday 30th September.

Have you been bloggin’, have you been DAGgin’ or have you been YouTubin’ – if you have not, now is a good time to get your DAG pieces together and build a nice figure of three 8’s. Come on, out – find me, explore me, and others in 888 DAG Family. Please try to link your blog to your YouTube Channel (if you haven’t got one – create a channel, but if you are not sure how…watch this space!!)

DAGger Training DAY (YouTube) - at North Ryde -This Thursday 7:30am

Dearest DAGger,

Please this read this email carefully and S-L-O-W-L-Y :)

You are invited to the most glorious of training days on Thursday 28 August - Yes, that is 2-888 (get it?). We are redesigning the 888dag.com site after receiving a gr8 deal of hellful [sic] feedback.

The simplification drive will see everyone manage their own YouTube Channel. If you already know about YouTube, please come along and help us train those who don't! Basically, the NEW process will be as follows:

1. You film
2. You deliver ALL your clips to us
3. You select the 8 clips you want to be included in 888DAG (the best of the bunch)
4. We caption and upload your clips to your YouTube Channel (you don't do this bit cos you don't have the bandwidth at home)
   
5. Once the clips are uploaded YOU get automatic notification and add the relevant info for your clip (see list below) to best advertise and link your content
   
6. You tell your story including your clips and your favourite clips on your blogs AND on your YouTube channel.

On Thursday we will cover:

• Starting a YouTube Channel
• Editing Video Information
• Subscribing to other channels
• Adding Friends and Networks
• Creating Playlists and Favourites
• Sharing your Videos
• Commenting and Rating
• Linking
• Adding Geotags (for time and date location information)
• Labels
  

We are commencing at 7:30am (!!!) on 28/08/08 and will go out for Yummy Lunch afterwards. :-)~

The address is FOXTEL, 5 Thomas Holt Drive, North Ryde (off Waterloo Rd).

PLEASE RSVP in the comments section and let us know if you need parking or a lift. We are starting at 7:30am because traffic is hideous after then.
